Kyuubi Kitsune

Kitsune which means “fox” in Japan are well known for being one of the most familiar and popular types of yokais/spirits in Japanese folklore and have appeared in numerous Japanese works, they are infamous for being mischievous tricksters. The one kitsune we are all familiar with in InuYasha is none other than little Shippo  who became an orphan after his father was killed by the thunder brothers and was later “adopted” by Kagome, InuYasha and the others.  At the end of the series we see Shippo studying to take the Kitsune demon examination to become a full-fledged fox demon of higher rank.

Shippo is still a young boy/yokai and does indeed have many years(centuries) ahead for himself to become more stronger and wiser. As a kitsune grows older, they gain more tails (they may have as many as nine) as well as intelligence and magical power.

The most powerful form of them all would be none other than the Kyuubi, which means “nine tails” in Japanese.

Kitsunes and Kyuubis are believed to possess superior intelligence, long life and are best known for having magical powers, one of their best known traits is their fox-fire but they have also known to have other abilities such as Dream Manipulation, Curse Inducement, Illusion Manipulation, or even Insanity Inducement.  

Maybe if the series continued on after the three year time skip and Kagome returned to the past, it would have been so interesting to see a Kyuubi appear than and could seriously see one being just as powerful as Sesshomaru maybe even more if they possess nine-tails it could definitely give the great dog demon a run for his “money” and might even be one of the few yokais that could withstand the powerful effects of Bakusaiga.
